Wan Lin was born in 1939 near what is now Taipei, Taiwan. She was the the first - and only - child. "Everyone got along well in my childhood, and that's why we're still in contact today."

Family

"Yes, I was close with my parents, because I was the only child. With anything that happened, I would tell them and when something happened, they would tell me. It went both ways.
My attitude is more outgoing, more optimistic and generous. We wouldn't argue, and honestly, everyone was more cheerful that way. Argue, and there would be bitterness."

Life

"Mom and dad. They raise us when we're young. They take care of us, and when they're old, we take care of them. It's always like that - it's the cycle we call family."
